Decisions and Highlights:

  1. Advisor Nominations:
    FIWNA decided to nominate two prominent Indigenous women from Nepal in America as advisors:

  • Yasso Kanti Bhattachan, founder of the National Indigenous Women’s Federation (NIWF) and current Vice President of the National Indigenous Women’s Forum (NIWFF), was nominated in recognition of her leadership and contributions.

  • Bandana Rai, former General Secretary of FIWNA, was also nominated as an advisor in recognition of her valuable service to the organization.

  1. Vice President Appointment:
    The Vice President position became vacant following the resignation of Maiana Sen Bajracharya due to personal reasons. She recommended Maiya Tamang, an active and committed member, for the role.
    With full respect to her recommendation and after internal discussions, the committee unanimously appointed Maiya Tamang as the new Vice President.

  2. Annual Picnic Planning:
    FIWNA proposed two possible dates for the annual picnic: July 5th or July 19th, 2025. The final date will be confirmed after additional discussions with all members and the executive committee.

  3. Birthday Celebration:
    As part of FIWNA’s tradition of honoring senior members, the organization celebrated the 65th birthday of Maiya Tamang, the newly appointed Vice President. The celebration reflected FIWNA’s values of respect, inclusion, and community spirit.
