
It was the second series of regular virtual interaction sessions where the Professor Dr. Krishna Bhattanchan one of the experts of Indigenous Peoples was the main presenter of the event. He explained the importance sections of the Convention related to Indigenous people and rights and provision which are constructed in the convention. He addressed that most of the labors are indigenous people in the world that is the reason the International Labor Organization(ILO) put the important provision for Indigenous People in the world. He also gave the explanation about the treaty body which is legally binding and mandatory. Mr. Bhattanchhan also stressed on the importance of forming the trade unions of Indigenous People.
The participants from the various organizations along with students of indigenous people were presented there. After the presentation of the Bhattachan the General Secretary of Nation Indgenous Women’s Federation(NIWF) General secretary Shobha Sunuwar pointed that the shortcomings of free prior and informal convent(FPIC) have been manipulated in Nepal because as per the FPIC any developmental activities should take the prior consent from the indigenous peoples in Nepal however any developmental projects takes place without their concern however, with small gatherings and meeting they passe.
Kalpana Bhattachan the vice president of National Indigenous Women’s Federation(NIWF), Shoba Sunuwar the general secretary of the NIWF and Uma Tamang from Indigenous Women Legal awareness Group(INWOLAG), Toran Gurung from the Federation of Indigenous People of Nepal(FIPNA) along with Deepak Chaudhari the president had raised many questions about the presentation.
The presenter Dr. Bhttachan warmly welcomed all the questions and answered the importance of the them.
Indira Chongbang the president of FIWNA had moderated the event and expressed her thanks and gratitude to each and everyone at the end.
